Optimize Performance

Having performance issues in Storyboarder?

Storyboarder is graphics-intensive; it runs at a level similar to a modern video game engine. On computers with both a dedicated GPU (NVIDIA or Radeon) and an integrated GPU for low-power modes, browsers often default to the integrated GPU. This can drastically reduce performance.

To get the best experience, first verify which GPU is being used: Open your Editor File’s Settings → About, then scroll to the bottom of the modal. You’ll see the detected GPU listed there. If it’s using the integrated GPU, switch your browser to the dedicated GPU (NVIDIA or Radeon) for maximum speed.

Set Up to use Dedicated GPU

Chrome:

If your browser is running on the integrated GPU, you can force Chrome to use the high-performance GPU:

  • Open Chrome and enter chrome://flags/#force-high-performance-gpu  in the URL bar

  • Set the flag to Enabled
  • Restart Chrome

For Windows: If the browser is still not recognizing the dedicated GPU, proceed below.

  • Press Win + I to open Settings, then go to System → Display → Graphics settings.
  • Add chrome.exe  to the list of apps with custom graphics options.

  • Once added, select Chrome and choose Options → High performance (select your dedicated GPU).
