Content Guidelines

Last Updated: January 12, 2026

Stories come in many forms, just like life itself.

Some stories are joyful, light, and funny. Others are dark, painful, unsettling, or even violent. All of them can carry meaning.

We believe everyone should have the freedom to tell the stories they need to tell, even when those stories are uncomfortable. Our role is not to judge those stories, but to help ensure they reach the right audiences. These guidelines exist to support that balance and keep Storyboarder a space that works for everyone.

Core Principles

  • We support creative expression across a wide range of genres and themes.
  • Context matters. Depiction within a story is not the same as endorsement.
  • Audience awareness is important. Some content requires labeling, rating, or restricted visibility.
  • Safety and legality define the outer boundaries of what is permitted on the platform.

What’s Not Allowed

The following content is not permitted on Storyboarder:

  • Content that is illegal or whose possession or distribution is unlawful under applicable law
  • Content that targets, harasses, threatens, or abuses real individuals or groups
  • Content intended to promote or incite real-world harm, violence, or discrimination
  • Non-consensual sexual content or sexual exploitation, including content involving minors
  • Doxxing, scams, malware, or attempts to interfere with the operation or security of the Service

Content and Labeling

The restrictions above do not prohibit the creation or publication of content that may depict:

  • Violence
  • Discrimination or hatred
  • Mature or sensitive themes

…provided such content is presented as part of a story or creative work and is not intended to target, harass, or incite harm against real individuals or protected groups.

Storyboarder may require content to be:

  • Appropriately labeled
  • Rated for maturity
  • Restricted in visibility

This may be done in accordance with Storyboarder’s content and maturity guidelines, and may be applied by Storyboarder on behalf of the user.

  • Storyboarder may review content for compliance with these guidelines.
  • Where necessary, we may take action including:
    • Applying labels or ratings
    • Restricting visibility
    • Removing content
    • Suspending or terminating accounts

Decisions are made with consideration of context, intent, and applicable legal requirements.

Updates to These Guidelines
